RICHMOND, Va. - George Mason women's volleyball continued its hot start to Atlantic 10 play with a dominant 3–1 road victory over VCU (25–12, 15–25, 25–20, 25–22) on Friday night at the Stuart C. Siegel Center. The win improves the Patriots to 14–5 overall and 7–1 in the A-10, while the Rams fall to 8–8 (6–2 A-10).
George Mason was led offensively by Kiera Hamilton, who tallied a match-high 19 kills on .261 hitting, along with seven digs and two block assists. Chelsea Colter was a force at the net with eight kills and a team-best six total blocks, while Avery Booker added six kills and seven digs. Ava Cheney directed the attack with 26 assists, and Autumn Martinez-Robinson anchored the back row with a match-high 21 digs and two aces.
The Patriots came out on fire, opening the match with a commanding 25–12 first-set win. Hamilton's early kills and back-to-back aces from Nia Thompson helped George Mason jump out to an 8–0 lead, and the Green & Gold never looked back, hitting .333 in the frame while holding VCU to .000.
VCU responded in the second set to even the match with a 25–15 win.
The Patriots regrouped in the third, using a late 5–1 run capped by a Hamilton ace to take the set 25–20 and regain control of the match.
In the fourth, George Mason built an early cushion thanks to balanced scoring from Hamilton, Booker, and Colter. VCU mounted a late rally, closing within two at 24–22, but Colter's late kill sealed the 25–22 clincher.
The Green & Gold outblocked the Rams 12–7 and held VCU to just .123 hitting on the night.
