Fairfax, Va. --  The George Mason Patriots (4-8-2, 3-3-0) will play their second consecutive home match on Thursday, facing the Davidson Wildcats (6-5-2, 2-3-1). Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at George Mason Stadium, with gates opening at 6 p.m.

Mason dropped their second conference matchup in a row last Saturday against VCU. In his post-game interview, head coach Aaron Brunner stated that the Patriots' training sessions will need to be faster and sharper. After conceding three or more goals for only the third time this season, he emphasized the importance of defensive organization as well. "Moving forward," Brunner said, "we have to make sure that we have the confidence to be able to play through difficult spaces in time and continue to play the way we want to play."

The Patriots will look to make the necessary adjustments as they continue their home stand, aiming to play with the aforementioned confidence in front of their home crowd and get back on track.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS

Sophomore midfielder Sophia Whiddon leads the Wildcats with 11 points this season, tallying four goals and three assists. Senior forward Dakota Lyons has contributed three goals and two assists. Senior midfielder SJ Pak and junior forward Kiera Pohan have each scored two goals, with Pak also recording two assists.

Defensively, the Wildcats have utilized two goalkeepers – sophomore Allie Moore and freshman Grace Stair. Moore has played 270 minutes, recording nine saves, allowing two goals, and posting a goals-against average of 0.67. Stair has logged 900 minutes, making 50 saves, conceding 14 goals, and holding a goals-against average of 1.40. Both goalkeepers shared minutes in three team shutouts, while Stair is credited with one individual clean sheet.

Currently sitting 8th in the Atlantic 10 standings, Mason faces a crucial test against the 10th-place Davidson on Thursday. The matchup could prove decisive in determining whether either team extends their season with a spot in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
