FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason continued its hot start to Atlantic 10 play with a commanding sweep of Davidson (25–17, 25–21, 25–23) on Saturday afternoon at the Recreation & Athletic Complex. The Patriots improved to 12–5 overall and 5–1 in conference play.
Kiera Hamilton led the Patriots with a match-high 13 kills, adding seven digs, two aces, and two block assists for a team-best 16.0 points. Haley Graetz was efficient on the outside, posting 12 kills on .423 hitting, while Chelsea Colter chipped in 10 kills and three blocks. Setter Ava Cheney dished out 18 assists and added three block assists, while Camryn Weldon tallied 19 assists, 15 digs, and an ace to quarterback the offense.
Autumn Martinez-Robinson anchored the defense with a team-high 17 digs and two aces, helping the Patriots out-dig the Wildcats 58–53. George Mason finished with 48 kills on .225 hitting and recorded seven service aces and six blocks on the afternoon.
The Patriots took control late in the first set with a 10–3 run to pull away 25–17, fueled by a flurry of kills from Hamilton and Graetz. In the second set, a mid-frame service run by Mia Hazelett sparked a 5–0 spurt, and George Mason held off a late push by Davidson to win 25–21. The third set featured 16 ties and seven lead changes, but the Patriots came through in the clutch — Hamilton's late kill followed by Graetz's finish sealed the 25–23 win and the sweep.
