ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – George Mason junior forward Kelly Janssen scored two goals and graduate student forward Jacobo Sanfeliu tallied the game-winner in a 6-5 victory over St. Bonaventure on Saturday.

Five different players found the back of the net as the Patriots scored a season-high six goals.

George Mason (6-4-1, 3-1-1 A-10, 10 Pts.) took the lead against St. Bonaventure (3-7-2, 1-3-1 A-10, 4 pts.) early in the first half.  After the Bonnies committed a foul in the penalty area, junior midfielder Javier Montava scored his first goal of the year on the penalty kick to put the Patriots in front, 1-0.

The Patriots have scored the first goal in eight of their 12 matches this season including each of the last four.

The Patriots increased the lead with textbook execution on a corner kick.  Sophomore forward Martim Sereno sent the ball into the box where graduate student defender Elijah Jackson elevated and scored his first goal as a Patriot with a header from inside the six-yard box to increase the lead to 2-0.  Sereno recorded his second assist of the season on the play.

In the 23rd minute, George Mason graduate student goalkeeper Jaume Salvado made a spectacular save on a Bonnies breakaway, charging all the way to the top of the penalty area where he made the stop with his right leg to keep the net empty.

The Patriots added to the advantage in the 25th minute.  Junior midfielder James Eliuda got a free run and worked his way into the right side of the penalty area and sent a perfect pass to Janssen, who tallied his fourth goal of the season to make the score 3-0.

St. Bonaventure scored two goals on consecutive shots in a span of 46 seconds to cut the lead to 3-2.  Off a corner kick, senior midfielder Avery Dreasky scored his first goal of the season in the 34th minute into the lower left corner from inside the six-yard box.

Less than a minute later, the Bonnies earned a free kick after a Patriots foul.  On the ensuing free kick, the ball went to junior midfielder Daniel Helle who scored his second goal of the season with a shot that rolled under the George Mason goalkeeper into the low left from 14 yards out in the 35th minute.

In the final minute of play, Janssen scored his second goal of the match off a set piece.  The corner kick was sent into the six-yard box, where Janssen converted a header into the lower left from three yards out to make it 4-2 Patriots.

It's the second time this season that Janssen has scored two goals in a match.

St. Bonaventure scored early in the second half.  In the 56th minute, junior midfielder Callum Shillington scored his first goal of the season into the upper left from 15 yards out to cut the lead to 4-3.

In the 71st minute, Patriots' freshman forward Jaime Godinho raced down the right side and cut into the penalty area before sending a cross in front to Eliuda, who blistered a finish past the leaping Bonnies goalkeeper for his third goal of the season to make the score 5-3 Patriots.

Ten minutes later, Sanfeliu tallied his league-leading seventh goal of the season with a header, the eventual game-winning goal, in the 81st minute to push the lead to 6-3.  Sereno sent a cross into the box to pick up his second assist of the game.

St. Bonaventure scored the final two goals of the game.  In the 81st minute, sophomore forward Neshawn Sutherland scored his first goal of the season to pull the Bonnies within two goals, 6-4.  In the 86th minute, Bonnies' graduate student midfielder Seth Hammond tied for the A-10 lead with his seventh goal of the season to account for the final score of 6-5.
