Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |
Fairfax, Va.- George Mason are closer to making history by recording their 14th consecutive home win against King University. The sweep tonight has the Patriots closer to an incredible achievement.

The first set began with a new starter on the court, David Hill. Robert Evangelista and Jackson Herbert continue to shine on the court by quickly collecting kills. Adding Gio Collazo's dangerous service, the Patriots offense was too much to handle for the visiting team from Tennessee. The offensive duo of Jackson and Robert closed out the set, 25-19, for the Patriots.

King University were determined to leave a mark on today's game and they almost did so by fighting the Patriots until the very end of the set. Franco Roark and Sebastian Sanchez both were introduced into the match and the both players settled in quickly to score points for George Mason. King University did not give George Mason time to breathe and they tied the game at 24-24 to force the game to the 26th point. A kill by Robert Evangelista and the final kill by David Hill closed out the set 26-24 in favor for the Patriots.

The battle cooled down in the third set with George Mason running away with the lead by scoring six consecutive points to reach a 19-9 lead. Gabe Metcalf was subbed on to the court and immediately had an impact on the match by blocking the opponents attack and scoring a point for the Patriots. They stadium was rocking and the players on the sidelines ran out to the court to celebrate the occasion. King University were not able to catch up with the Patriots momentum, and a kill by Sebastian Sanchez finalized the game for another sweep by the Patriots at home.

Quotable:
"Another opportunity to get some guys some playing time is valuable down the line", said head coach Jay Hosack. "I thought we managed tonight well, and look forward to getting some good work in this week".
