Fairfax, Va.- George Mason continue their home winning streak with a win against King University. The first sweep of the season for the Patriots in 2025.
Giomar Collazo Santiago started off the game with three consecutive kills to give the Patriots an early 3-0 lead. George Mason did not let go of the lead, going on a five point unanswered streak to have a 14-5 which included two aces by
Jackson Herbert. Gio Collazo started the set and ended the set with another kill for the Patriots.
The second set began with King University scoring the first point but then the Patriots got control back of the game by reaching a lead of 17-12 with another
Derek Nagel service ace. It was a closer fight between both teams with King University reaching 20 points, but
Robert Evangelista secured the 25
th point for the second set to conclude.
The first sweep of the season was inching closer for the Patriots. King University had a surprise lead in the beginning of the set, 4-3, but George Mason attacked back by scoring four unanswered points with kills by
Robert Evangelista and
Elijah Lazor. Another run happened with the Patriots scoring six consecutive points with an inspired
Elijah Lazor who had two service aces back-to-back.
Derek Nagel recorded his first kill in his collegiate career.
David Hill and
Franco Roark made their debuts on the court and they both secured their first kill in their collegiate career. George Mason took the final set comfortably and extend the winning streak at home to 13 games.

Jay Hosack. "We got a chance to get some young guys some playing time and that is always a good thing to see new faces perform under the bright light for the first time. Proud of how our boys finished tonight."
