Queens University of Charlotte surprised the Patriots in the first set taking a huge lead of 18-10. George Mason attempted to make a comeback by cutting the lead down to just two points but the Royals reached the 25th point and took the first set.

Alexander Lillie, Giomar Collazo Santiago, Robert Evangelista, and Jackson Herbert all stepped up their game in the second set. The match went back and forth with the game still being tied at 22-22. The Patriots were able to find the lead and reached the 25th point first with a kill by Jackson Herbert.

The Royal's gears were still working in the third set, keeping the score close with the Patriots. The Royals scored the 13thpoint to only by two points away from George Mason, but that is when the Patriots ran away with the lead. Six unanswered points by George Mason with kills by Alexander Lillie, Jackson Herbert, Evan Snodgrass, and two service aces by Derek Nagle. Derek Nagle was the super sub making a huge impact in the game and gave the confidence for the Patriots to close out the set.

One more set was needed by George Mason to extend their home winning streak to 12 games. The offense lead by Giomar Collazo Santiago and the defense lead by Evan Snodgrass were crucial for the Patriots to take home the fourth set 25-19. Quotable:
"We came out a little tentative in the first set and made some uncharacteristic mistakes and they capitalized on them", said head coach Jay Hosack. "But we settled down and brought back our game for the rest of the match. I'm proud of our resolve. We didn't fold it up and pack it in."
