ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The George Mason University men's basketball team (15-5, 6-1) continues to set the pace in the Atlantic 10 race after completing a momentous 75-62 victory at St. Bonaventure (14-6, 3-4) Tuesday night.
The win marked the Patriots' fifth straight victory and 13
th in the past 15 games. It also is the Green & Gold's first win inside St. Bonaventure's Reilly Center since December 2004.
"Offensively, we clicked early," head coach Tony Skinn ('06) said. "
Zach Anderson gave us a great start. It really just set a tone early on and we went into halftime with the confidence that we could win here in a really tough place. Everything just kind of settled after that."
The Patriots jumped out to a 33-15 lead at the 7:04 mark of the first half and the Bonnies would not move closer than nine for the remainder of the game.
George Mason earned the big lead early on the strength of a first half in which the Patriots shot 60.9 percent from the floor (14-23) and made 6-of-8 (.750) attempts from 3pt range.
GM also went a perfect 19-for-19 from the free throw line, marking the second most makes without a miss in program history.

Zach Anderson proved a massive part of that effort and finished the game with an A-10 season-best 17 points. He knocked down 5-of-8 3-pointers and 6-of-9 shots overall in the win.

Darius Maddox added 14 points (7-7 FT) and a season-best seven rebounds, while junior
Brayden O'Connor notched 13 points, five rebounds and three assists.

K.D. Johnson tied a season-high with six assists in the victory, while junior
Giovanni Emejuru chipped in 11 points (5-6 FG).
The Patriots hit three of their first four 3-pointers and jumped out to an 18-5 advantage. GM extended the edge to 18 at 33-15. St. Bonaventure used a 9-0 run to get within nine (33-24), but the Patriots scored five of the final seven points of the half to take a 45-31 lead at the break.
The Bonnies cut the Patriot lead to nine at 51-42, but Anderson's sixth 3-pointer of the game put the Green & Gold back up 14 (56-42) at the 12:06 mark of the second half. SBU could not get it to single digits for the remainder of the game.
GM is now 6-1 in the A-10 for just the second time in school history. It's St. Bonaventure's first 13+ point loss at home since Anderson's Florida Gulf Coast squad won in Olean (71-58) on Dec. 16, 2022.
Next up, George Mason will enjoy a weekend bye from Atlantic 10 play before returning to competition next Wednesday (Jan. 29) with a home contest vs. Loyola Chicago. Tip-off between the Patriots and Ramblers is set for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
