Fairfax – The George Mason (11-3) wrestling team earned a 29-13 conference win today at Cleveland State (0-4, 0-2).

George Mason won seven matches highlighted by three bonus matches. The Patriots have won two straight agaisnt the Vikings.

The Patriots Ben Monn claimed the opening three points with a 13-9 decision at 125-pounds. The Vikings answered, with two bonus-points matches to lead 10-3.

After two straight decisions by Cale Roggie and DJ McGee, the Patriots took a 10-9 lead and never looked back. 

The heart of the line-up powered through their opponents to stretch the lead to 20-10. Evan Magg earned a team-leading seventh fall (4:32)  of the season against the Vikings Tate Geiser. Malachi DuVall earned a fall (1:09) to improve to 12-3, while Logan Messer won by technical fall, 19-4, for his team-leading 18th win of the season.

Freshman James Blackman (12-4, 5-0) earned the biggest upset of the day at heavyweight, with a 4-3, triple sudden death decision against No. 25 Daniel Bucknavich (14-4, 2-2).
