Fairfax, Va. – George Mason started off the season with a loss on the road against #17 UC San Diego. The Patriots were swept in their first game of the season meanwhile the Tritons continue on their winning streak and conceding zero sets in four games. The Patriots will now look to recover and gain back momentum against #9 Grand Canyon.
George Mason will now have to face #9 Grand Canyon University, a team that reached the Final Four of the NCAA tournament last year. Grand Canyon fell to the runners-up of the tournament, Long Beach, in a five-set thriller. Last time that both teams faced off was in 2023 with George Mason sweeping the Lopes in Fairfax. George Mason's last game as the visitors to the Lopes was in 2019 when Grand Canyon swept the Patriots. The head-to-head matchup in extremely close with George Mason racking up six wins and Grand Canyon with five wins.
Giomar Collazo Santiago and
Liam French look on becoming the main refences for the Patriots offense against the Lopes. Both players recorded six kills on Tuesday against the Tritons.
