Marek Gonda and sophomore midfielder
Quentin Clain each scored two goals in the Patriots 5-2 victory over George Washington on Saturday night at George Mason Stadium.

In the 50th all-time meeting between the two clubs, George Mason (8-1-0, 2-0-0 A-10) registered season-highs in goals (5), shots (27) and shots on goal (10) against George Washington (2-7-1, 0-2-0).

The Revolutionaries took the lead in the 30th minute off a free kick. Freshman midfielder Finn Roberts played the ball to the back post, where graduate student midfielder William Turner played a header to graduate student midfielder Carter Humm, who scored with a header into the center of the net from two yards out for his first goal of the season to make it 1-0.

In the 32nd minute, Gonda was fouled inside the penalty area and on the penalty kick, he scored the equalizer into the center of the net to even the match, 1-1. It was his third goal of the season.

The Patriots took their first lead of the match in the 42nd minute. Sophomore forward
Abdul Kamara played a perfect cross from the right side of the penalty area to Eliuda, who headed the ball to Wachsman inside the six.Â

Wachsman took the pass on one hop and elevated a leaping right-footed shot into the upper right corner from five yards out for his second goal of the season to put the Patriots in front, 2-1.

The Revolutionaries scored the equalizer in the 63rd minute. Off a takeaway, graduate student midfielder Roee Tenne played the ball ahead to sophomore forward Jaden Dubon, who scored into the lower right corner to tie the match, 2-2.

The Patriots went on to score three goals in a span of less than eight minutes.

In the 77th minute, graduate student defender
Jordi Navio Sanchez made a nice move into the right side of the penalty area and sent a cross into the box. Gonda played the ball with a header and Clain pounced to blast a shot into the lower left corner from eight yards out to give the Patriots the lead for good, 3-2.

Exactly seven minutes later, Eliuda played the ball ahead to Clain, who raced in one-on-one against the George Washington goalkeeper and blistered a shot into the lower left corner from 17 yards out for his second goal of the night and fifth of the season to increase the lead to 4-2.
In the 85th minute, Gonda pounced on a rebound off a shot by Eliuda and beat the goalkeeper with a low shot into the right corner of the net to pad the advantage to 5-2.

The Patriots outshot the Revolutionaries, 27-7, including a 10-0 advantage in shots on goal. George Mason had 10 corner kicks and George Washington finished with three corner kicks in the match.

The 27 shots and 10 shots on goal were both season highs for the Patriots.

Clain (68 minutes) led all players with eight shots and four shots on goal and freshman forward
Martim Sereno (66 minutes) finished with five shots and two shots on frame.

Gonda (53 minutes) recorded three shots and scored on both of his shots on goal. Wachsman finished with three shots and found the back of the net with his lone shot on goal.
