FAIRFAX, Va. – Junior midfielder Nicholas Prioli scored his first goal of the season to lift the Patriots to a 1-0 victory over William & Mary on Tuesday night at George Mason Stadium.
 
The Patriots have scored the first goal in seven of their eight matches this season, with all seven in the first 28 minutes of play.
 
George Mason (7-1-0, 1-0-0 A-10) took the lead over William & Mary (3-5-0, 1-1-0 CAA) in the 18th minute of play.
 
Sophomore midfielders Quentin Clain and Javier Montava played the ball to Prioli, who blistered a shot into the right corner of the net from seven yards out for his first collegiate game-winning goal.
 
George Mason senior goalkeeper Jaume Salvado (7-1-0, 1-0-0 A-10) made four saves in the match for his fourth clean sheet of the season.

The Tribe outshot the Patriots, 17-12 while the Patriots had a 5-4 edge in shots on goal.  George Mason had four corner kicks and William & Mary finished with three corner kicks in the match.
 
Clain led all players with three shots on goal, while graduate student midfielder Henry Wachsman and Prioli each put one shot on frame.
 
Freshman forward Martim Sereno (73 minutes) took three shots and sophomore midfielder James Eliuda had two shots.
 
Graduate student defender Luis Maestre, senior defender Javi Sanchez, junior defender Will Carson, Eliuda, Clain, Montava and Wachsman each played 90 minutes in the match.
