FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's volleyball team beat Navy 3-1 on Friday evening in Fairfax.
The Patriots (3-5) started strong, winning the first two sets, and though the Midshipmen (0-8) claimed the 3
rd set, the Green & Gold prevailed in the 4
th set to win the match: 25-16, 25-16, 25-23, 25-21.
George Mason dominated the first set, never trailing and leading by as much as 10 points over Navy.
The second set was similar, the Patriots controlled the pace. They once again never trailed, and at one point went on a 7-0 run, led by the service of sophomore
Autumn Martinez-Robinson.
In the third set, Navy matched the Patriots, going point for point with each other. There were 11 ties and six lead changes in the set, but ultimately Navy was the team that finished the job.
The fourth set started with a 7-2 run from George Mason. It seemed the match was out of Navy's grasp when they trailed by eight points, but they clawed their way back into it and brought the game to within one point at 22-21, Patriots. But in the end, it was the Green & Gold who scored the final three points and finished the final set, 25-21, to win the match, 3-1.

- Senior Olyvia Kennedy led the way with 15 kills, followed closely by freshman Avery Booker with 13 kills.
- Sophomore Camryn Weldon tallied a career-high 30 assists.
- Freshman Jaylin Lott dug for a career-high 16 digs.
- The Patriots out-paced the Midshipmen in kills (56-37), assists (52-34), digs (52-45), and service aces (9-7).
