FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's soccer team downed Delaware, 4-2 in the home opener on Friday night at George Mason Stadium.

Martim Sereno each scored their first collegiate goals in the match, while senior midfielder
Asparuh Slavov netted his first goal of the season.
George Mason (2-0-0) took the lead over the Blue Hens (2-1-0) early in the match when Lemoine scored off a set piece in the sixth minute of play.
Sophomore midfielder
Javier Montava played a corner kick into the penalty area where Lemoine put a shot into the lower right corner of the net to put the Patriots in front, 1-0. The assist by Montava was his second in as many games.
In the 39th minute, Delaware sophomore midfielder Rich Monath scored the equalizer from 10 yards out to even the score, 1-1.
The Patriots took the lead for good in the final minute of the first half.
Clain was fouled and on the free kick, he blistered a shot past the Blue Hens wall and into the lower left corner of the net from 19 yards to make it 2-1 George Mason.
In the 60th minute, Sereno scored the eventual game-winning goal when he put a shot into the left corner of the net from 15 yards out to increase the Patriots advantage to 3-1. Senior defender Javi Sanchez recorded his second assist of the season on the play.
The Blue Hens pulled within a goal in the 84th minute when graduate student forward Sam Donnellan scored his second goal of the season to make it 3-2.
With time winding down in the 90th minute, Delaware earned a corner kick and senior goalie Adam Vik vacated the frame and made his way into the offensive end.

Erick Kilosho gained possession of the ball and played a pass ahead to Slavov, who scored into the empty net for the 4-2 final score.
George Mason graduate student goalkeeper
Jaume Salvado (2-0-0) made two saves, while Vik (2-1-0) made five saves in the match for Delaware.
