Head women's volleyball coach
Megan Shifflett Bachmann has announced seven new members to the Patriot women's volleyball team for the 2024 season, including six freshmen and one transfer.
"I couldn't be more excited for this class to finally be on campus," said Shifflett Bachmann. "They bring so much athleticism and such a dynamic skill set into the gym - the future is bright with them here!"
The new additions are:
#1 Mia Hazelett | 6'1" | Middle Blocker | Apex, N.C. | Apex
- Majoring in Accounting
- Lettered in volleyball and track & field in high school, earning All-Conference honors in both
- Under Armor 18 Open National Champion
- Played club for Triangle Volleyball
#3 Nina Mitchell | 6'2" | Middle Blocker | Wichita, Kan. | Wichita Northwest
- Majoring in Public Health
- Lettered in volleyball and track & field in high school
- Captain of her high school team during her senior season
- Played club for Shockwave
- Two-time GWAL First Team
#9 Avery Booker | 6'1" | Outside Blocker | Holly Springs, N.C. | Middle Creek
- Majoring in Business Administration and Management
- Played club for Chapel Hill Volleyball Club
- Won the 2023 4A state championship
- Named to the AVCA All-American and JVA watchlists
#10 Jaylin Lott | 5'4" | Defensive Specialist/Libero | San Antonio, Texas | Clark
- Majoring in Business, minoring in Sports Management
- Lettered in volleyball and track & field in high school
- Two-time unanimous 1st Team All District TX UIL 28-6A selection
- Helped her team to an undefeated district championship season in 2022
- On the 2022 AVCA Phenom Watchlist
- Played club for Alamo
#13 Camryn Weldon | 5'10" | Setter | McKinney, Texas (Sam Houston) | McKinney Boyd
- Transfer from Sam Houston
- Majoring in Business and Finance
- Finished last season with 98 sets across 28 matches, and 297 assists for 3.03 assist/set.
- Tallied 140 digs and 15 service aces last season for Sam Houston
- Added 28 kills on 83 attempts for a .325 clip
#17 Jordan Lucas | 5'5" | Libero | Pembroke, Va. | Giles
- Majoring in Neuroscience
- Lettered in volleyball, soccer, track & field, and basketball
- Two-time 1st team All-State Libero
- Three-time 1st team All-Region 1C Region
- Captain her senior year
- Member of 1000 Digs Club
- Played club for River Valley Juniors
#23 Tuana Ozarpaci | 5'9" | Setter | Istanbul, Turkey | Okyanus
- Majoring in Economics and Sports Management
- Played in 414 sets across 133 matches as the starter setter in the last three consecutive seasons at Galatasaray Sports Club
- Tallied over 1000 assists each season with Galatasaray Sports Club
- Her team was a top-four finisher at the National Championships in 2018 (U14), 2019 (U16), and 2022 (U19)
Last year, the Patriots finished 9-21, 5-13 in A-10 play, the most wins the program has had since 2018. The Green & Gold will start their season away on Friday, August 30 at Howard University. Their home opener will be Sunday, September 1 against UC Riverside at 1 p.m. at The RAC.
