FAIRFAX -- George Mason women's soccer will open the 2024 season against Elon on Thursday, August 15
th at 7pm. The match against Elon is the first of three consecutive games that will be played away from Fairfax.
This match-up is the first regular season game for both teams. Elon won both its exhibition games against USC Upstate and East Carolina.
The Patriots are coming off a win against Hampton in an exhibition match held last Saturday. KK O'Donnell had an exceptional showing scoring two goals in her first match for the Patriots.
The Patriots are led by first-year head coach
Aaron Brunner. A native Virginian with almost 25 years of coaching experience, Brunner is coming off a National Championship with Florida State. An assistant coach for the past two seasons, Brunner was part of the Seminoles' staff that was named the 2023 United Soccer Coaches Coaching Staff of the Year.
George Mason returns its top-three point producers from last season as well as the two top goal scorers.
Milan Pierre-Jerome, returns for her fifth year following a two-goal senior season.
Rachel Eberly led the Patriots in assists, while rising sophomore
Molly Starner scored two goals during her freshman campaign.
George Mason won the only match in the history between the Patriots and the Phoenix in 1987, with a 2-0 score.
The Patriots will remain in North Carolina to play Campbell on Sunday, August 18 at 2 p.m. in Buies Creek.
