FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason women's volleyball program has released its 2024 schedule, which features four non-conference tournaments, including two at home, and an 18-game Atlantic 10 slate.
The Patriots finished the 2023 season at 9-21, including 5-13 in Atlantic 10 play with wins over GW, Fordham, Duquesne and a sweep of Rhode Island. Mason will return Atlantic 10 Second Team selection
Camille Larkin and all but one starter from last year's squad.
Along with 11 returners, Mason is set to welcome seven newcomers to the roster, including one sophomore transfer and six freshmen.
Mason will open the 2024 season with the DC Challenge, with two matches on the road and the finale at home. The team will open with Howard in the nation's capital on Friday and American in D.C. on Saturday. The Patriots will welcome UC Riverside to the RAC on Sunday to close out the weekend.
The Patriots will then travel south to Williamsburg for the Tribe Invitational September 6-7. Mason will begin the weekend on Friday against Quinnipiac and wrap up on Saturday against Bucknell and the hosts.
Mason returns home for two straight weekends of four-team tournaments in the RAC. The Patriots will welcome Old Dominion, Navy and Quinnipiac to Fairfax Sept. 12-14 for the Mason Invite and six matches. The Patriots will play ODU on Thursday, Navy on Friday and close the Invite with Quinnipiac on Saturday.
The following weekend, the Patriots host Morgan State, Fairleigh-Dickinson and Gardner-Webb for the Patriot Invite from Sept. 19-21. Mason opens the weekend against Morgan State on Thursday, followed by FDU on Friday and Gardner-Webb on Saturday.
Atlantic 10 play will kick off the weekend of Sept. 27 when the Patriots host in-state opponent VCU, followed by road matches at Davidson on Oct. 4 and 5.
Mason will host rival George Washington on Oct. 9 before getting on the road for away matches at Fordham on Oct 12 and 13. A home series against Rhode Island on Oct. 18 and 19 will also serve as the Patriots' alumni weekend, where the team will honor and celebrate its' 50-year anniversary. The Patriots close October with a three-game road swing at Loyola Chicago (Oct. 25-26) and George Washington (Oct. 30).
The Patriots open November against defending Atlantic 10 Regular Season and Conference Tournament Champions Dayton on Nov. 2 and 3 at the RAC. Mason then heads to Saint Louis to battle the Billikens on Nov. 8 and 9 before closing the regular season with matches against Duquesne (Nov. 15-16).
The Atlantic 10 Women's Volleyball Championship will be hosted by Dayton in Dayton, Ohio from Nov. 22-24. The top-6 teams at the end of the regular season advance to the postseason tournament with an NCAA automatic bid on the line.
Admission is free for all Patriots' women's volleyball home games played at the RAC.
