FAIRFAX, Va. – Konner Eaton was selected by the Colorado Rockies on Monday in the sixth round with the 168th overall pick of the 2024 MLB Draft.
Eaton, from Disputanta, Va., is the highest drafted pitcher in George Mason program history and the third-highest drafted player in school history since 1978 (Chris Widger, 3rd round, 1992, Seattle Mariners; Logan Driscoll, 2nd round, 2019, San Diego Padres).
"Konner is truly one of the hardest workers that I have ever coached," Patriots head coach
Shawn Camp said. "His excellence work in the classroom and on the field sets the bar for what a student-athlete strives to become. Konner's leadership and his relationships with his teammates makes him such a special talent and the Colorado Rockies are definitely lucky to have such a great young man."
Entering the draft, Eaton was on the Top 250 Draft Prospects List and was selected by Colorado with the 168th overall pick. He was the first player from the Atlantic 10 Conference taken in this year's draft.
Eaton made 28 starts over his three years with the Patriots. He recorded 129 strikeouts over 105.1 innings in his career with the Green and Gold. Eaton, a product of Prince George High School, started 14 games for the Patriots in both 2023 and 2024. On the Patriots all-time list, he is tied for 15th in starts and tied for 27th in strikeouts.
This past season, Eaton led George Mason in starts (14) and strikeouts (82) and was second on the club in innings pitched (62.0). His 82 strikeouts were fifth-most in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Eaton is the first George Mason baseball player drafted by the Colorado Rockies.
