FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University men's basketball head coach Tony Skinn ('06) announced Friday that former Iona guard Jeremiah Quigley will join the Patriot roster, beginning in 2024-25.
Quigley put together an outstanding freshman campaign for the Gaels in 2023-24 while ranking second on the team in assists (3.3 apg) and third in scoring (10.8 ppg).
"I knew Jeremiah in high school and I remember how he always exhibited elite toughness," Skinn said. "Point guard was an area of emphasis for us in the offseason. Jeremiah put together an excellent freshman campaign at Iona. is very efficient in his role as a playmaker and he has the mentality and skill set needed to thrive in a ball screen offense."
Quigley proved impressively consistent as a floor general during his inaugural collegiate campaign. The 5-foot-11-inch guard scored 10+ points and at least 3+ assists in 21 contests. He started 18 of 33 games for the Gaels and averaged 28.0 minutes/contest while also tallying 28 steals on the season. He committed just 55 turnovers on the year while registering a solid 1.96 assist/turnover ratio.
A native of Accokeek, Md., Quigley starred for Bishop McNamara High School as one of the best players in the WCAC. As a senior, he earned First Team All-WCAC accolades while averaging 20.5 points per game and shooting 54 percent from the field. A McDonald's All-America nominee, Quigley lead McNamara to its first-ever Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament championship appearance. He played his AAU ball for famed Team Takeover in Washington, D.C.
Quigley is the second transfer portal addition for the Patriots so far this season. The Green & Gold also will welcome former Siena forward Giovanni Emejuru, as well as incoming freshmen Justin Begg (Houston, Texas) and Bryson Cokley (Whiteville, N.C.).
