FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason Wrestling will travel to Ohio for the Mid-American Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday, March 8-9 held inside the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center in Kent, Ohio.
In its fifth season in the MAC, Mason finished the season with an 11-9 record, 3-4 in the MAC. The Patriots defeated Edinboro, Cleveland State, and Bloomsburg.
For the second consecutive season the Green and Gold have 11 wins, which ties the most wins in a season since the 2007-08 season when the Patriots finished with a 13-5 record.
MAC QUALIFIER ALLOCATIONS FOR 2024 NCAA D1 WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP
The NCAA has announced the qualifier allocations for the 2024 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships and the Mid-American Conference has received 22 qualifier allocations, the fifth highest of any Division I Wrestling Conference.
After all the conference tournaments have concluded, the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee will meet in-person to select the remaining 46 at-large qualifiers. All weight classes will consist of 33 wrestlers.

125 | JB Dragovich
Freshman worked his way into the starting lineup mid-season after Ben Monn suffered an injury. He earned conference wins against Edinboro's Caleb Edwards with a major decision, 17-5 and Bloomsburg's Bronson Garber, 8-5. There are two allocations for the MAC at this weight.
133 | Brandon Wittenberg
The grad student missed the first two months of the season recovering from an injury. He had bonus point wins in four of five wins for the Patriots. The Haymarket, Va. native lost a close decision to the conference's top wrestler Lock Haven's Gable Strickland, 4-2 on Jan. 25. There is one allocated spot for the MAC at this weight.
141 | Dominic Hargrove
Hargrove has stayed consistent and steady this year, earning him a spot in the line-up. The redshirt sophomore had a pin against Hunter Mason of Virginia Tech at Midlands. He split the two MAC matches late in the season. Hargrove dropped a 6-3 decision to Ohio's Aidan Waszak on Jan. 19. And defeated Rider's Will Betancourt, SV-1, 4-1 on Feb. 4.
149 | Kaden Cassidy
This is one of the deeper weights in the MAC with eight or nine wrestlers ranked at one time this season. There are currently four wrestlers in the rankings and six in the top twenty-seven in the RPI, with only three allocated spots. In seven MAC matches, Cassidy won three, including Edinboro's Colin Roberts, Ohio's Dominic Hoffarth, and Bloomsburg's Cade Balestrini. Kaden is 14-7 on the season with several quality wins.
157 | DJ McGee
DJ McGee has been the team's most consistent wrestler this season. He is 23-4 and earned one of the five allocations for the MAC at the weight. He is ranked 23
rd in the country and 19
th in the RPI. DJ has a win over the #3 wrestler in the country in the weight class. DJ has conference wins over #24 Lovett, #28 Washleski, and #33 Herrera-Rondon with a close loss to #16 Keller.
165 | Evan Maag
Evan Maag looks to have saved his best wrestling for the end of the season. He is 23-9 on the season, winning 12 of his last 14 matches. The number #12 ranked wrestler in the country is in the weight and there is only one spot allocated.
174 | Paul Pierce
Paul Pierce is looking to end his wrestling career with a statement. He has been committed and loyal to GMU Wrestling through his entire tenure. This has been his best season yet in number of wins and win percentage. Three of his 13 wins this season are in the MAC. This weight was allocated two spots.
184 | Malachi DuVall
Malachi DuVall finished with a 14-10 record. After getting off to a rough start to the season, DuVall has gone 9-2 in 2024 and is another Mason Wrestler who is really wrestling well at the end of the season. There are two spots in this weight class.
197 | Tyler Kocak
Tyler Kocak has battled through injury this year. Tyler has competed in just eleven matches this season but came up with some very solid wins. There are two allocated spots in this weight class.
285 | Donovan Sprouse
Donovan was pulled into the starting lineup when
Chad Nix couldn't compete. He is 5-15 overall.
