Fairfax, Va.- No. 17 George Mason remains in Fairfax to compete at the RAC against FDU and NJIT. This will be Mason's fifth conference game of the season, currently with a 2-2 record defeating NJIT and Charleston.
Last time out, George Mason defeated Saint Francis who traveled to Fairfax undefeated in their conference and fighting for the first seed.
Omar Hoyos and
Jackson Herbert electrified the crowd with the kills and the digs that each player achieved on the court. Both players recorded a double-double,
Omar Hoyos had 14 kills with 16 digs and
Jackson Herbert had 11 kills with 10 digs.
Eamonn Testerman also had a career-high of blocks with six and also contributed in the offense with six kills and scoring nine points.
The Patriots have faced NJIT earlier in the season during the New Jersey tour. Mason defeated the Highlanders, 3-1, to record their first conference win of the season.
Colin Heath had the most kills with ten and
Troy McDonald setting up the assists collecting 38.
Omar Hoyos helped in defense with ten digs but also added four service aces to his name. George Mason broke a three-game losing streak against NJIT and will now look forward to start a winning streak against the Highlanders.
Mason will be facing FDU for the second time as well this season after sweeping them away at New Jersey, 3-0.
Colin Heath was in an inspired form during his time at New Jersey, collecting 13 kills against FDU with two blocks.
Omar Hoyos was top three for every category seen on the statistics sheet; 12 kills, two aces, two blocks, five assists, and seven digs. The Patriots are undefeated against FDU winning five from the five matchups since 2022.
