Fairfax, Va.- The Patriots sweep the Pioneers once again at the RAC to extend the undefeated streak at home to seven games. All three games that have been played between both teams have ended with a sweep by Mason.
Tusculum came out with more energy compared to yesterday's match, fighting for every ball and communicating more on the court. The Pioneers went back and forth with the Patriots attempting to take away their first ever set against Mason. There were 12 occasions where the score was tied, the final one occurring at 18-18. Tusculum did take a 20-18 lead but Mason woke up and scored four consecutive points to regain the lead, 22-20. A block by
Jason Ashenfelter and
Omar Hoyos ended the first set in favor for the Patriots, 25-22.
Tusculum came out with the same energy as the first set but Mason was more prepared for what was coming. There were five moments in the game where Tusculum was tied with Mason and it all occurred at the beginning of the set. At 5-5, Mason scored three consecutive points to lead 8-5 and later on went on another three-point run to extend their lead to 12-7. Kills by

Omar Hoyos was causing trouble for the Pioneers. Tusculum were not able to have a lead, and the set ended with a kill by
Jack Bolz and blocks by
Troy McDonald and
Lucas Little.
For the third set, Mason came out with an early 6-2 lead but Tusculum did not give up and tied the game up at 12-12. A kill by
Robert Evangelista and two service aces by
Hayden Karpinski gave the Patriots a three-point cushion, 15-13. The Pioneers also scored three consecutive points to cut the Mason advantage to only two points, Mason led 21-19. Both teams exchanged points until Mason secured the 25
th set with a kill by
Omar Hoyos.
