WASHINGTON, D.C. – With the conclusion of the regular season today, the Atlantic 10 office has announced the official seeding and bracket for the 2024 Championship.
 
The George Mason women's basketball team earned the No. 4 seed and a double-bye into the Quarterfinal round on Friday, March 8 after finishing the season with a 14-4 mark in conference action. 
 
It was a historic regular season for the Patriots as they set a new single-season record for Atlantic 10 victories with 14 and the regular season win record with 23 wins. The Patriots lost just four Atlantic 10 games during the regular season, marking the fewest since they joined the conference in the 2013-14 season. 
 
The four-seed matches the highest-ever seed for the Patriots in the Atlantic 10, and the highest since the Patriots finished fourth in the 2017-18 when Mason advanced to the second round of the WNIT. Mason also earned a double-bye for the first time since joining the conference.
 
It has been an exceptional turn around for the Patriots, as just three seasons ago, Mason went 0-14 in Atlantic 10 play. The turn-around has been led by head coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis, who arrived prior to the 2021-22 season, and led the Patriots to their first 20-win season since 2017-18, and the seventh 20-win season of Blair-Lewis' career.
 
Mason will open the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship on Friday, March 8 at 1:30 p.m. at the Henrico Sports and Entertainment Center. The Patriots will play the winner of the No. 5 Duquesne vs. No. 12/No. 13 game that will take place on Thursday at 1:30.
 
Postseason awards will also be announced next week.
