Fairfax, Va.- George Mason remain at the RAC to face a new opponent, University of Mount Olive. Mason has not lost a home game this season defeating Saint Francis, NJIT, and FDU. The Patriots remain third in EIVA and have been ranked by AVCA as the 17
th best team in the nation.
Last time out, Mason defeated NJIT on Friday to secure another conference win and maintain the third seed. NJIT took the first set but the Patriots maintained their composure and went on to win the next three sets. The same story occurred against FDU, with the Knights taking the first set and Mason taking three sets consecutively to win the game.
Paul Wyszynski was named EIVA Defensive Player of the Week because of his 16 digs and was 35 for 38 in service receptions, a 92% success rate during the weekend.
Jackson Herbert had a phenomenal weekend as well recording 29 kills, two service aces, seven digs, four blocks, and scored 35 points.
Mason faced Mount Olive five times since 2005 with the Patriots winning four from the five games played. Mount Olive has the most recent win from the series, defeating the Patriots 3-2 in 2022. Three games have been played at the RAC with Mason winning all three games and only allowing Mount Olive to take away one set.
