Darius Maddox has been named the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
It marks the first time Maddox has earned the weekly accolade. He shares the honor with Dayton's Koby Elvis.
Maddox averaged 19.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals and shot 63.6 percent from the floor and 57.1 percent from 3pt range in two 18-point wins for George Mason. He notched a game-high 21 points and matched his career high with five 3-pointers on Wednesday in a 69-51 win at Rhode Island.
Then on Saturday, he tallied a game-high 18 points on just nine shots as Mason took down A-10 regular season co-champion Richmond in Fairfax.
The Bowie, Md., product put together his best season to date in 2023-24. He ranked second on the Patriots with 14.2 points/game, which ranked 14
th in the Atlantic 10. He also was eighth in the league in 3pt FG made/game (2.4) and his 41.3 3pt percentage ranks third best all time for a Mason player with at least 150 attempts.
His 66 3pt FG made this season rank t-14
th all time in Patriots single season history.
Maddox and the eighth-seeded Patriots open the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship on Wednesday vs. No. 9 Saint Joseph's at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The 11:30 a.m. contest will be broadcast nationally on USA Network.
