FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's basketball team will play its' final home game of the season on Wednesday night when it welcomes the Dayton Flyers to EagleBank Arena.
 
Wednesday's game will mark the 14th game in the series history, with all matchups coming as members of the Atlantic 10. The Flyers have dominated the series, winning 10 of 13 games, and all meetings in Ohio until Mason won earlier in the month for the first time on the road. Mason will look to pick up its' first series sweep over Dayton in program history on Wednesday.
 
The last time out, Mason defeated first-place Richmond at home in overtime to push its' win streak to three. On the other hand, Dayton fell to Loyola Chicago, 64-61, on the road, where the Flyers are just 2-10 on the season.
 
PATRIOT POINTS
  • On Monday, Kennedy Harris was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the sixth time and Ta'Viyanna Habib was named Player of the Week for the first time
  • Sonia Smith leads the team with 14.9 points per game (8th, A-10) and is seventh in the Atlantic 10 with 15.7 points per game against league opponents. She is also second on the team with 3.0 assists per game (12th, A-10) 
  • Paula Suárez leads the team with 3.2 assists per game (11th, A-10) while Zahirah Walton leads with 5.9 rebounds (16th, A-10), 37 steals (18th, A-10) and 27 blocks (9th, A-10)
  • The Patriots lead the A-10 with 40.3 boards per game (46th nationally), a 5.44 turnover margin (14th nationally) and a 13.7-point scoring margin (31st nationally) and are second in 3-point defense, at 28.0% (42nd nationally), 9.33 steals per game and 14.8 offensive rebounds (19th nationally)
  • Mason boasts one of the top benches in the country, at fourth nationally with 30.1 bench points per game. Walton leads the way with a team-second-best 11.2 points per game.
 
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton sits at 11-16 overall and 5-11 in Atlantic 10 play so far this season. Since the two teams last met in Dayton on Feb. 11, the Flyers have gone 2-2 with conference losses to Saint Joseph's and Loyola Chicago and a win over Miami (Hamilton) and an A-10 win over Davidson (by forfeit). The Patriots won in Ohio two and half weeks ago, 74-50. 
 
Ivy Wolfe paces the Flyers' offense with 11.7 points (21st, A-10) and 3.5 assists (5th, A-10) per game, and is the team's best three-point shooter with 53 makes (10th, A-10) on the year. Destiny Bahanon is just behind Wolfe with 10.5 points per game as the two team up as the double-figure scorers for the Flyers. 
 
Arianna Smith is leading the Flyers across the court with an Atlantic 10-best 11.1 rebounds per game (8th nationally) to go with a team third-best 9.7 points per game. Defensively, Anyssa Jones leads Dayton with 1.1 steals per game to go with 8.9 points and 4.0 rebounds. Mariah Perez is the team leader in blocks with 20 (16th, A-10) while averaging 7.1 points and 6.0 rebounds (13th, A-10). 
 
As a team, Dayton is third in the Atlantic 10 in rebounding with 39.7 boards per game, and is also second with 14.7 offensive rebounds per contest. The Flyers have the second-best rebounding margin in the conference at +8.6.

Mason will wrap up the regular season on the road at VCU on Saturday, March 2. Tip-off with the Rams is set for 1 p.m. in Richmond.
