WASHINGTON, D.C. – George Mason women's basketball freshman
Kennedy Harris has been named the Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday, as announced by the league.
Harris' honor marks the ninth overall Rookie of the Week honor for the Patriots this season, as she already earned it on Nov. 13, Jan. 2 and Jan. 8, while sophomore
Zahirah Walton has earned it five times.
The guard from Hampton, Va. made her first career starts in a 1-1 week for the Patriots last week as Mason fell to Davidson on the road and picked up an important rivalry win at home over George Washington.
Against the Wildcats in her first career start, Harris posted 14 points, four rebounds and an assist, going 6-6 from the free throw line to match a career-high. In the win over GW, Harris played a career-high 37 minutes, posting five points, three steals, three rebounds and an assist.
Overall, the rookie averaged 9.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals while going 100% from the free throw line.
Harris and the Patriots return to the court on Wednesday, Feb. 21, when they travel to Olean, N.Y. to take on St. Bonaventure in Atlantic 10 action.
