Fairfax, Va.— The George Mason wrestling team celebrated senior day with a dominant win against Lindenwood University on Sunday afternoon inside the RAC.
Mason won the match with seven bonus point matches, including two pins, three technical falls, and two forfeits en route to the 42-8 win to finish the season 11-9, 3-4 in the MAC.
Prior to the match the Patriots honored its seven seniors:
Anthony Glasl,
Shawn Nonaka,
Paul Pierce,
Loranzo Rajaonarivelo,
Ethan Renager,
Patrick Schellpfeffer, and
Brandon Wittenberg.
After dropping the match at 125 lbs, the Patriots won eight straight matches in its first-ever match with the Lindenwood Lions (2-8).
Two falls were earned by Patriots, inlcuding a team-leading seventh of the season by
Evan Maag (165). The Bethlehem, Pa. native improves to 20-10 on the season. Grad student
Paul Pierce earned a fall against Kaden Charboneau at 174 pounds in his final match at the RAC.
In the fastest match of the day,
Kaden Cassidy (149) earned a technical fall in 49 seconds, 15-0, against the Lions Cruz Lara. It's the fifth tech fall of the season for the redshirt sophomore, who improves to 14-7.
Brandon Wittenberg celebrated his last home match in a Mason uniform with a tech fall, 19-4 (7:00) against Lindenwood's Caiden Pelc.
Malachi DuVall won by technical fall earning his 11th bonus victory this season.
Tyler Kocak (197) wrapped up the scoring for the Patiots with a 7-5 decision against Ryan Golnick.
