Fairfax, Va.- Men's volleyball makes its return to the courts after having a two week break with no games. A 1-3 loss against Chicago Loyola was the last time Mason was in action and they now look forward to playing their first conference game of the season against NJIT. The matchup against NJIT will be on Friday, February 16th at 6pm with NJIT hosting Mason in Newark, New Jersey. Mason will remain in New Jersey to face Fairleigh Dickinson University the next day on Saturday, February 17th at 7pm.
Last time out, Mason traveled to Illinois to compete in two ranked games against Lewis University and Chicago Loyola. Both games ended in defeat, 0-3 against Lewis and 1-3 against the Ramblers.
Jack Bolz led the team in kills racking up 21 kills over both games and 3 blocks as well.
Jack Bolz recorded a double-double in the game against the Ramblers with 15 kills and 10 digs.
Troy McDonald and
Georgi Zahariev continue dishing out assists to their teammates and
Sam Peters also helping out defensively.
Since 2005, Mason has faced NJIT 33 times and leads the series 25-8. The series has taken a turn in favor for NJIT in the past ten games where NJIT have won six and lost four. George Mason is currently in a three game losing streak, not being able to beat the Highlanders since 2022. The Patriots still have a positive record when visiting New Jersey, winning 9 games from the 12 matchups but not achieving an away victory since 2019.
Mason currently has an undefeated record of four wins in four games against FDU. Fairleigh Dickinson University recently introduced men's volleyball to their athletics program in 2021 and have faced Mason twice in 2022 and in 2023. George Mason traveled to FDU's home court once back in 2022 and walked away with a 0-3 win.
