FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason Patriots topped the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks in a Saturday afternoon matchup, 61-40. This moves the Patriots to 10-1 for the first time in program history.
It was a slow start from both teams as no one scored for the first 3:10 of the game. Sophomore
Kennedy Harris finally broke with a three-pointer, which she then hit again just a minutes later from the same spot. Harris scored the first 10 points of the game, and the Patriots held the Hawks scoreless in the first quarter.
By halftime, the Hawks had scored eight points, tying the Patriots' record for fewest points by an opponent in a half. For the Green & Gold, Harris and fellow sophomore
Louis Volker were driving the score up. Volker had 12 at the half and Harris had 10.
With a comfortable lead in hand, the Patriots looked to their bench for some minutes. 11 players tallied double-digit minutes in this game. When the final buzzer sounded, the Green & Gold celebrated their best start in program history.
