FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason women's volleyball senior
Olyvia Kennedy has been awarded the OrthoVirginia Student Achiever Award on behalf of OrthoVirginia and George Mason Athletics.
OrthoVirginia is the proud sponsor of the Student Achiever Award which recognizes student-athletes for, not only their athletic accomplishments, but also how they perform in the classroom and in service to our community. Student-athletes can be recognized for exceptional performance outside of the sport arena, such as community service, leadership on campus, consistent excellent performance in the classroom, incredible attitude, overcoming adversity, leadership skills, major improvement in their sport, etc.
Olyvia Kennedy is a senior captain on the Women's Volleyball team and is majoring in English with a minor in Communications. She has been recognized as a Peter N. Sterns Provost Scholar Athlete, the highest academic award for student-athletes at George Mason University. Kennedy has also made the Dean's list for six straight semesters and has been recognized three times on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Kennedy is the representative on Student Athlete Advisory Committee for Women's Volleyball. She also serves on the President's Student Advisory Council and on the Athletic Department's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
In the community, Kennedy spent time as a literacy tutor at a local elementary school aiding in concepts relating to phonics, spelling, and reading comprehension.
