FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University men's basketball team returned home in style Wednesday night en route to a 93-55 victory over Coppin State inside EagleBank Arena.
The Patriots never trailed in the game and held a sizable 27-point edge (48-21) at the break.
The team shot a season-best 60.4 percent (32-53) for the game and limited the Eagles to just 33.3 percent (19-57) on the night. It marked the first time a Patriot team shot over 60 percent from the floor since a February 4, 2017 win vs. La Salle.
Graduate student
Zach Anderson tallied a season-best 21 points and knocked down a career-best seven 3-pointers on nine attempts in the win. It marked the first time a Patriot hit 7+ 3-pointers in a game since Otis Livingston II in a Feb. 14, 2018, win over Dayton.
With his 19
th point of the game, Anderson reached 1000 points for his career.
Junior
Giovanni Emejuru added a season-best 21 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Emejuru made 8-of-9 attempts from the floor.
Senior
Jalen Haynes chipped in 12 points and made 5-of-7 field goal attempts.
George Mason held sizable advantages in points in the paint (42-24) and bench scoring (36-5) while also turning 17 Eagle turnovers into a +10 (24-14) edge in points off turnovers for the game.
The Patriots wrap up their two-game homestand with a Saturday afternoon affair against Ferrum. Tip-off between the Patriots and Panthers is set for 2 p.m.
