FAIRFAX, Va. – Senior defender Javi Sánchez converted a penalty kick in the second half, but the top-seeded Patriots fell to sixth-seeded Saint Louis, 2-1, in the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinals on Wednesday at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Va.

Saint Louis (8-3-8, 4-1-3 A-10) took the lead over George Mason (13-4-1, 6-1-1 A-10) in the 33rd minute of play. Senior forward Matthew Wrobel scored his fifth goal of the season from eight yards out inside the left post to put the Billikens in front, 1-0.

In the 41st minute, junior midfielder Max Floriani scored his third goal of the season when he converted with a header into the upper right corner from seven yards out to increase the lead to 2-0.

Sanchez put the Patriots on the board with his third goal of the season when he converted a penalty kick off the post in the 70th minute of play.
