FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason returns to Fairfax to honor Veteran's Day with Monday's Military Appreciation Game. The contest is part of the Marquette Challenge.
Prior to the game, the George Mason Green Machine's Fife & Drum core will lead a group of 20 GM Army/ROTC members out to the floor to present the colors. The national anthem will be sung by Military Veterans D.C. Washington, Caleb Green and Bob McDonald. Then, four members of the GM Army/ROTC will repel from the arena ceiling to present the game ball.
Tip-off between the Patriots and Seawolves is set for 7 p.m. Monday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+, featuring commentary from Voice of the Patriots Bill Rohland and former All-CAA standout Will Thomas. In addition, Steve Kolbe will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with streaming coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m. (ET).
PATRIOT POINTS
• The Patriots have split their first two contests. Most recently, GM fell at No. 18/17 Marquette Friday night in Milwaukee. The Patriots led with 13:36 remaining, but the Golden Eagles closed the game on a 21-4 run to pull away at the close.
• George Mason held Marquette to 28.1 percent shooting in the first half and 38.8 percent overall. Through two games, Patriot foes are a combined 42-124 (.339) from the field. The team ranks 31st nationally in 2pt FG defense (.382).

Darius Maddox led GM with a season-high 20 points on just 12 shots (7-12 FG, 3-4 3pt). He is averaging a team-best 18.5 points/game so far this season.

• Through two games, GM's lineup ranks as the 26th oldest in the nation (2.78 years/player). The Patriots feature four fifth-year student-athletes as well as three players in their fourth season of eligibility.
• The Green & Gold are averaging 15.0 offensive rebounds through two contests and are grabbing an offensive board on 41.1 percent of possessions (31st nationally).
• Mason committed 19 turnovers at Marquette and is now averaging 18.0/game and a -8.5 turnover margin.
HISTORY vs. STONY BROOK
Monday's contest marks the second all-time meeting between George Mason and Stony Brook in men's basketball. In the only other matchup, the Patriots won, 74-52, on November 9, 2021.
Josh Oduro led the Patriots with 16 points in the win.
HISTORY vs. CAA OPPONENTS
Mason has tallied a 188-121 (.608) all time record against opponents currently a part of its former league, the Coastal Athletic Association. The Patriots' most common foes are UNC Wilmington (40-31), William & Mary (40-28) and Towson (33-11). In the most recent contest against a CAA opponent, Mason defeated North Carolina A&T (94-69) last season on Dec. 30, 2023.
Darius Maddox tallied 15 points (4-8 FG), five rebounds and two assists in the win.
A LOOK AT THE SEAWOLVES (1-1, 0-0 CAA; KenPom #273)
Stony Brook was picked ninth out of 14 teams in the 2024-25 CAA preseason poll. The Seawolves have split two games in the Marquette Challenge thus far. Stony Brook fell at Marquette, 102-62, on Monday, then won at Central Michigan, 73-72, on Thursday. Last season, the Seawolves won 20 games and advanced to the CAA Championship Game. CJ Luster II, Collin O'Connor and Joe Octave all are averaging 11.5 points/contest to lead Stony Brook. Ben Wight adds 9.5 points and a team-best 7.5 rebounds/contest.
