WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sophomore Zahirah Walton has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season and for the third-straight week, announced by the league office on Monday.
 
Walton's honor marks the sixth-straight and seventh overall Rookie of the Week honor for the Patriots this season, as she already earned it on Dec. 26, Jan. 15 and Jan. 22 and freshman Kennedy Harris has earned it three times.
 
Walton dominated the court for the Patriots' in another 2-0 week as Mason downed two rivals in a road win at George Washington and in a thrilling home victory over VCU. In both games, she led the Patriots in both scoring and rebounding while setting multiple career highs.
 
Against GW, Walton shined with a team and career-high 23 points and 16 rebounds. She shot 50% from the field (6-12) and three-point range (1-2) while hitting a career-best 10 free throws on 10 attempts. She also contributed two blocks and two steals
 
In the Homecoming victory over VCU, the Seattle, Wash. native scored a team-high 13 points and nine rebounds to go with two blocks and an assist. Overall for the week, she averaged 18.0 points, 12.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 steals while shooting 47.8% from the field, 67.7% from three and went 100% (12-12) from the free throw line.
 
Walton and the Patriots return to EagleBank Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 31 for a 7 p.m. tip with Fordham.
