FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason redshirt sophomore
Malachi DuVall was selected as the Co-East Wrestler of the Week for the second straight week, announced by the Mid-American Conference. He shares the honor with Clarion's Cam Pine.
It's the third straight week and a record fifth conference award this season by a Mason wrestler.
DJ McGee claimed the weekly conference award twice this season, while
Nathan Higley earned wrestler of the week in early December.
DuVall (184) continued his pinning streak with back to back wins by falls on Saturday and Sunday. He needed less than six minutes to finish both of his matches. On Saturday, he pinned Brody Evans of Edinboro in 2:26. On Sunday, he pinned Will Conlon of Hofstra in 3:16. Since 2024 has started, he has had 3 dual matches and pinned all three in less than three and a half minutes each. The Centre Hall, Pa. native has earned a pin in three consecutive matches. West Wrestler of the Week
Corbyn Munson, Central Michigan, Grad Student, 149 lbs
Corbyn Munson finished 3-0 to lead Central Michigan to a 2-1 finish at the Chippewa Challenge at Cal State Bakersfield on Sunday, Jan. 14. Munson, a graduate student, improved to 17-4 on the season with the three victories, one of which came on a technical fall, his eighth bonus-point win of the season. Munson outscored his three opponents -- Cal State Bakersfield's Brock Rogers, Campbell's Justin Rivera, and American's Jack Nies -- by a combined 28-3. Munson, who is 4-2 in dual meets, is ranked No. 1 in the MAC and 16th nationally (InterMat).

Cam Pine recorded his second win by fall of the season as the Golden Eagles routed Bloomsburg for a dual win on Friday night. Fresh off an appearance in the final of the Southern Scuffle over the New Year's holiday, Pine returned to action in front of the home fans and made quick work of the Huskies' Tanner Culver. Midway through the first period Pine tossed Culver to his back and quickly worked him into position for the win by fall. Clarion went on to win the dual meet by a 36-6 score.
