PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - George Mason freshman defender
Kelly Janssen scored his first collegiate goal but the Patriots fell to La Salle, 2-1, on Saturday night at McCarthy Stadium in Philadelphia, Pa.
Mason (1-5-2, 0-3-0 A-10) took the lead early in the match against La Salle (4-3-3, 1-0-2 A-10). In the third minute, Janssen took advantage of an Explorers giveaway and raced into the left side of the penalty area and blasted a shot past the charging goalkeeper into the lower right corner of the net to put the Patriots in front, 1-0.
The Explorers netted the equalizer in the 16th minute. Junior forward Sean Yurgel scored his first collegiate goal when he found the back of the net off a corner kick to even the score, 1-1. Sophomore defender Evan Watt and senior defender Drew Blackwell picked up the assists.
In the 67th minute, Yurgel scored the game-winner when he converted with a header from six yards out off a corner kick to make it a 2-1 game. Sophomore defender Americo Pereira and Blackwell notched the assists on the play.

Jaume Salvado (1-5-2, 0-3-0 A-10) made one save while La Salle sophomore goalkeeper Filip Sabatti (4-3-1, 1-0-1 A-10) made two saves in the match.
