FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's volleyball team is set to open the home portion of its' Atlantic 10 schedule this weekend when it hosts the Saint Louis Billikens for two matches at the RAC.
Last season, the Billikens swept the Patriots twice in Saint Louis. All time, Saint Louis leads the series, 15-1, with all meetings coming as members of the Atlantic 10. The Patriots' lone win against the Billikens came in 2018 at home.
The last time out, the Patriots picked up two 3-1 victories at Rhode Island to open conference play at 2-0 for the first time as members of the Atlantic 10. Sophomore
Gabriella Gelfound had her best weekend of the year, flirting with a triple-double in both matches. She averaged 5.13 assists, 2.75 digs and 2.13 kills and added three block assists and three service aces. Among the Atlantic 10, Gelfound is the only player with over 200 assists, 100 digs and 100 kills on the season.

- Olyvia Kennedy also had one of her best weekends of the season, posting a team-high 20 kills across the two matches and is now third on the team with 118 total and averaging 2.41/set
- Ewelina Gacek is the team leader in kills with 141 after a solid weekend. She is also tied for first on the team with Camille Larkin with 17 service aces after notching a career-high seven on Saturday
- Defensively, Larkin (48.0) and Chelsea Colter (44.0) lead the Patriots in blocks. Colter also leads with 10 solos, good for second in the A-10 and the most among freshman
- As a team, Mason ranks fourth in the Atlantic 10 with 16.70 points/set and a .220 hitting percentage
- The Patriots rank second in the conference with 1.89 service aces/set and their 106 total on the season places them at No. 22 in the NCAA
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Billikens sit at 7-7 overall after dropping two matches to VCU at home to open Atlantic 10 play. SLU shares one common opponent with the Patriots, downing UAlbany at the Chippewa Invitational hosted by Central Michigan over Labor Day weekend.
As a team, Saint Louis is third in the Atlantic 10 with 1.85 service aces per set. On the defensive side of the ball, the Billikens have done a solid job of limiting opponents' attacks and rank first in the conference in opponent kills, allowing just 10.38 per set.
Individually, Carlie Rodgers ranks first on the team and second in the conference with 23 service aces on the year. She also leads the team with 246 digs so far this season. Offensively, two Billikens have made their mark in the conference ranks, as Trinity Luckett is fifth with a .310 hitting percentage and Emily Herken is seventh with 3.33 kills per set. Delaney Rice leads Saint Louis with 166 total kills on the season and Kate Aupperle paces the Billikens with 391 assists. Defensively at the net, Luckett leads the squad with 47.0 blocks.
