ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The George Mason men's soccer team fell to St. Bonaventure, 2-0, on Saturday night at the Marra Athletics Field Complex in St. Bonaventure, N.Y.

With rain falling, the Patriots had the first chance of the match in the fifth minute. Junior forward
Souley Diouf raced in and recorded a shot on goal that was stopped by Bonnies senior goalkeeper Jules Dechert.

Mason (1-4-2, 0-2-0 A-10) fell behind St. Bonaventure (4-3-1, 1-1-0 A-10) in the 12th minute of play.Â

St. Bonaventure junior forward Andres Javitt scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season from 12 yards out into the lower left corner to put the Bonnies in front, 1-0. Senior forward Rafael Pereira and junior midfielder Kenzo Brito picked up the assist on the play.

A minute later, Pereira worked his way behind the Mason defense and took a shot toward the upper right corner, but Mason junior goalkeeper
Jaume Salvado made a spectacular save to keep it a one-goal game.

The Patriots appeared to score the equalizer in the 38th minute. Senior defender
Noah McGrath took a shot from just outside the six that was deflected by Bonnies senior Clay Smith. The ball bounced off the crossbar and fell to the goal line, where Dechert made the save.

St. Bonaventure extended the lead in the 72nd minute when freshman forward Daniel Helle scored his second goal of the season into the lower right corner to make it a 2-0 game. Javitt and Smith notched the assists.

Salvado (1-4-2, 0-2-0 A-10) made three saves for the Patriots while Dechert (3-3-1, 1-1-0 A-10) made seven saves in the match for the Bonnies.
