FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's soccer team plays its first Atlantic 10 road match of the season against St. Bonaventure on Saturday with the opening kick scheduled for 6 p.m. at Marra Athletics Field Complex in Olean, N.Y.

Mason (1-3-2) and St. Bonaventure (3-3-1) have met five times. The Bonnies lead the all-time series, 3-2-0, including a mark of 2-1-0 at home. Four of the five matches between the two clubs have been decided by one goal.

In the last meeting between the two clubs, the Patriots defeated the Bonnies, 2-1, on Sept. 17, 2022 at George Mason Stadium. Patriots midfielder

The Patriots outshot the Bonnies, 14-6, including a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal. Mason finished with seven corner kicks, while St. Bonaventure had just one corner kick in the match.

The Patriots are scheduled to play 15 regular season games, a slate that includes eight matches against Atlantic 10 opponents and six games at George Mason Stadium.

Rich Costanzo begins his second season after being named the Patriots' 11th men's soccer coach in program history last year.

The Green and Gold kicked off the regular season at home against UMBC on Aug. 24 (4-3 Retrievers) and played the first road match against Virginia on Aug. 31 (1-0 Cavaliers). Charlottesville.

Mason returned home to take on Old Dominion on Sept. 24 (2-2 draw). The Patriots traveled to battle Bucknell on Sept. 8 (0-0 draw) in Lewisburg, Pa.

The Patriots downed Navy, 4-0, for their first victory of the season on Sept. 11 at George Mason Stadium.

The Patriots wrap up the month of September on the road against La Salle (Sept. 30) in Philadelphia, Pa. before returning to George Mason Stadium to host Rhode Island (Oct. 4).Â

The match against the Rams is the first of seven that the Patriots will play in October, with three at home and four on the road in the month.

Mason makes the trek to take on Duquesne (Oct. 7) in Pittsburgh, Pa. and then returns home for a clash against Dayton (Oct. 14).

The Patriots travel to face Radford (Oct. 17) in a non-conference matchup before returning to league play at home against in-state rival VCU (Oct. 21).

The Patriots will play their final two matches of the regular season on the road against Delaware (Oct. 24) and George Washington (Oct. 28).

Prior to the start of the regular season, Mason played two exhibition games. The Patriots traveled to Loyola on Aug. 12 (3-1 Greyhounds) and hosted Mount St. Mary's on Aug. 19 (3-0 Patriots).

Campus sites will host the Atlantic 10 tournament, with the first round scheduled for Nov. 5 and the final slated for Nov. 13.

St. Bonaventure has a record of 3-3-1 including a mark of 0-1-0 against Atlantic 10 opponents. The Bonnies are 2-1-0 at home and 1-2-1 on the road.

Last time out, St. Bonaventure scored four goals in the second half and blanked Canisius, 4-0, on Wednesday at Marra Athletics Field Complex. Junior forward Umechi Akuazaoku (52'), junior midfielder Andres Javitt (52'), junior midfielder Kenzo Brito (58') and freshman forward Daniel Helle (65') found the back of the net for the Bonnies.

The Bonnies outshot the Griffins, 20-9, including a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal. St. Bonaventure had eight corner kicks while Canisius had three corner kicks in the match.Â

The Bonnies opened the season with a 2-0 victory over Houston Christian on Aug. 24 in Houston, Texas and then played to a 1-1 draw against Incarnate World on Aug. 27 in San Antonio, Texas. Â

St. Bonaventure then fell 3-2 at home to Central Connecticut State (Sept. 1) and dropped a 3-1 decision on the road at Binghamton (Sept. 5).

The Bonnies were blanked in their A-10 opener by Fordham, 3-0, in Bronx, N.Y. (Sept. 16).Â

Junior midfielder Andres Javitt leads the club in goals (4), points (9) and shots on goal. Brito is second on the team in goals (3) and points (8). He paces the Bonnies in shots (16) and is second in shots on goal (6).

Senior goalkeeper Jules Dechert (2-3-1, 510 minutes) has played six games for the Bonnies with a 1.76 goals against average and .756 save percentage. He has made 31 saves and allowed 10 goals against.

Sophomore goalkeeper Nicolas Pucci (1-0-0, 119 minutes) has appeared in two games with a 0.75 goals against average and .750 save percentage. He has made three saves and allowed one goal against.
