Richmond, Va.- The George Mason men's cross country team finished in 6th place today at the Annual Spider Alumni Open held at Pole Green Park. The Patriots finished with 140 points, ahead of VCU and just behind American University.
Junior
Mason Love led the pack for two laps and before overtaken by UVA runners, but Love finished in the top 10 along with teammate
Wesley Bond who kept pace with the eventual winners from Virginia. Love's time was 18:10.0 and
Wesley Bond was right behind with a time of 18:10.7.
Gavin Mogck, who ran unattached finished 24th overall, finished third-best among his Patriots teammates.
Alex Murphy and
Alex Lombardo both finished in 42nd and 52nd respectively. It was a tough race with UVA and Georgetown being favorites just like in the women's competition, but it was good competition to have in order to see how we can improve looking forward to the A-10 Championships.
"I felt pretty good", said
Mason Love. "I felt really good at the 4.5K and 5K, I had a kick but not enough to pull off the dub. We will get to where we need to be when the time comes and when it matters for the A-10 race."
George Mason will be competing next at the CNU Cross Country Invitational at Newport News, VA. September 15th at 5pm will be the time and day your Patriots will be competing once again.
