FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason baseball team dropped its series finale to Saint Joseph's, 13-6, on Saturday afternoon at Spuhler Field.

The Patriots finished the regular season with an overall record of 29-24 including a mark of 13-10 in Atlantic 10 play. Mason was 15-11 at home, 14-11 on the road and 0-2 in games played at a neutral site.

Hugh O'Hara made his first career start and pitched the first inning.
Mason (29-24, 13-10 A10) took the lead against Saint Joseph's (27-22-1, 17-7 A10) junior starter Domenic Picone in the bottom of the first inning.
Trimble led off with a triple to right field and scored on a wild pitch to put the Patriots in front, 1-0.
Saint Joseph's sent eight batters to the plate and took the lead for good in the top of the second against Patriots sophomore
Jalen Grant and freshman
Michael Salina.
With runners on second and third after two walks and a wild pitch, junior second baseman Max Hitman drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to tie the game 1-1. Back-to-back RBI-doubles by junior right fielder Brett Callahan and junior center fielder Conlan Wall gave the Hawks a 3-1 lead.
Sophomore designated hitter Ryan Cesarini then drove in a run with a single to center to make it 4-1.
Saint Joseph's added a single run in the top of the third against Salina and another in the top of the fourth against junior
Nick Martins to extend the advantage to 6-1.
In the top of the fifth, Hawks senior first baseman Luke Zimmerman drove in a pair of runs with a double to left-center and junior Ryan Picollo hit a two-run home run to left-center to make the score 10-1.
In the bottom of the sixth, Patriots junior center fielder
Jordan Smith hit a leadoff home run to left field. He finished the regular season second on the club with seven home runs.
Mason sent eight batters to the plate in the bottom of the seventh and scored four runs on three hits against Hawks junior reliever David Owsik and sophomore Luke Gabrysh.

Trimble delivered with a two-run double to right-center, Smith singled in a run and sophomore catcher
Connor Dykstra drove in another with a ground out to trim the Hawks lead to 11-6.
Saint Joseph's added a run in the eighth with a RBI-single and another in the ninth with a sacrifice fly for the 13-6 final score.
The Patriots used nine pitchers in the game. O'Hara pitched the first inning in his first collegiate start. Grant (0-1) allowed four runs on two hits and retired two batters in his outing. Salina gave up one run on two hits in 1.1 innings. Martins surrendered five runs on five hits in 1.0 inning. Sophomore

For the Hawks, Picone (5-5) allowed two runs on four hits in 6.0 innings to earn the win. Owsik surrendered four runs on three hits and didn't retire a batter. Garbrysh pitched 2.0 scoreless innings. Zimmerman took over on the mound and pitched the ninth.
Trimble went 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Smith was 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI. Freshman catcher

The Patriots enter the 2023 Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship as the sixth seed and face third-seeded Dayton on Tuesday with the first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. at The Diamond in Richmond, Va.
