FAIRFAX, Va. – The Patriots were defeated by the #3 Penn State Nittany Lions by a score of 3-0 in the RAC.
The Patriots gave a valiant effort, but Penn State was able to control the net, leading in blocks 11.5 to three.
In the first set, the Patriots started off strong. They fought point for point and held the lead at the media timeout (15-13). Then, two points later, Penn State would go on a 8-0 run to lead 22-16. The set ended 25-20. The Patriots led in kills (10-9) and
Omar Hoyos had three.
The second was similar to the first, with Mason leading at 8-7. They trailed by one after a kill by Hoyos at 16-15. Another run by the Nittany Lions (4-0) put the set out of reach, finishing 25-20.
Paul Wyszynski led the team in receptions (7) and digs (4).
Penn State took an early lead in the third and never let it go. The final was 25-15.
