Tonight, the Patriots defeated Harvard 3-2.
Omar Hoyos and
Liam French led the offense, with 42 kills and five aces. Together,
Jason Ashenfelter and Georgi Zahariev tallied eight block assists, one solo block and seven digs. The Patriots led in kills (61-46), blocks (13-11.5), assists (59-42) and aces (10-2).
So far this season,
Omar Hoyos leads the team in kills with 308 (3.58 per set) and
Liam French is second with 274 (3.04). Zahariev continues to be the team's primary setter tallying 784 set assists (8.91), although
Troy McDonald has earned time there as well (166/6.64). On the defensive side, libero
Paul Wyszynski contributes with the most digs (126/1.64) with Zahariev close behind (151/1.66).
Scouting #3 Penn State (24-3) EIVA (10-0)
The Nittany Lions are led by head coach Mark Pavlik in his 29th season. This season, they went 10-0 in EIVA conference play.
Michal Kowal leads the team in kills with 216 (2.54). Teammate Cal Fisher follows closely with 208 kills (3.20). The Nittany Lions have one main setter, Cole Bogner, with 1009 assists. He ranks fifth in the country in assists per set (10.30). Defensively, they are led by Ryan Merk with 173 digs and Bogner with 151.
The Nittany Lions lead the all-time series 19-116.
