Fairfax, Va. – The George Mason golf team finished 10th place at the 46th annual Rutherford Intercollegiate, hosted by Penn State.
Freshman
Aryan Vuradi paced the Patriots in the three-round tournament with a four-over par 217 at the Penn State Blue Course. After five birdies in the second round, Vuradi managed only one birdie in the final round. It was his second top 20 win in his initial collegiate season.
Junior
Nikita Gubenko scored a 73 in the final round, which included four bogeys and two birdies. He finished t-28 in the field.
Milan Matneja finished in the top 40 with a three-round 221 (75-72-74).
The Penn State men's golf team put together a surge down the stretch to overcome a seven-stroke deficit and claim the 2023 Rutherford Intercollegiate championship.
The Nittany Lions collect their eighth-straight and 30th overall Rutherford Intercollegiate team title in the 46-year history of the event. Penn State was five strokes behind Valparaiso entering Sunday's third and final round. The Valpo lead reached as much as seven strokes in the front half of Sunday's round, but the Nittany Lions finished strong, shooting a 2-under, 282, Sunday compared to Valparaiso's 4-over, 288.
