Box Score PRINCETON, N.J. – The Patriots dominated the Princeton Tigers in straight sets Saturday evening.
After a tough loss to the Tigers last weekend, the Patriots refused to succumb to a similar result. They dominated on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. The sets ended 25-22, 25-22 and 25-18.
Mason started off hot with a 6-2 lead. They led until the Tigers went on 4-0 run to lead by one (14-13). They would be tied at 19, and then the Patriots took six out of the last nine points to win the set 25-22.
Chey Cooper and
Omar Hoyos led with four kills each and
Sam Peters had four block assists.
The Patriots were behind 6-3 to start the second, although they rallied to get back ahead at 8-7. Each team scored back-to-back points multiple times, with Princeton leading at 18-17. The Patriots went on a 4-0 run and then tallied four out of the last five to win 25-22. Five different Patriots had block assists and team had a total of 10 digs.
The Patriots were down at 4-3, but after the score tied at 7, they never relinquished the lead the rest of the set. A 4-0 run extended the lead (11-7) and then the Patriots extended it to six (18-12). Mason grabbed the last two points to win it (25-18). Hoyos led with five kill and
Georgi Zahariev recorded eight set assists.
