Box Score FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University men's tennis team picked up one of the finest wins in its regular season history Friday, knocking off A-10 power Richmond, 4-2, at the Mason Tennis Courts. 
 
"This was an awesome win for us," head coach Jimmy Davis said. "The guys have been working so hard in practice to overcome some of our weaker areas and it really showed up today. We also got a key player back today from injury and I think it energized everyone. I believe this is the first win we've had against Richmond in program history. We're definitely enjoying it, but ready to get back to work so we can prepare for Fordham on Sunday."
 
Mason received that boost from senior Momin Khan, who has missed the past few weeks with his injury.
 
He took his place at No. 1 doubles alongside fellow senior Rithik Sardana and the duo took down the Spiders' top unit of Kliebhan/Karpinski, 6-2. Meanwhile, grad Rishab Sardana and sophomore Niza Simunyola defeated Richmond's Walsh/Wernink duo at No. 2, 6-2. The Patriots made it a clean sweep of the doubles with an all-freshman victory at No. 3. Monil Lotlikar and Alvaro Pedraza took down the UR Miano/Wiley tandem, 6-2. 
 
Richmond took the opening singles match at No. 6 to tie up the score, but the Patriots quickly struck back with a win by Rishab Sardana at No. 4. He took down John Walsh in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. 
 
Mason went up 3-1 after freshman Monil Lotlikar upended Richmond's Davis Wiley by an identical score as Sardana (6-2, 6-2). 
 
Richmond moved within one (3-2) after a victory at No. 5, but Rithik Sardana clinched the match at the top spot, as he took a 6-4, 6-4, straight sets win over top Richmond player Daniel Kliebhan.
 
The Patriots wrap up the weekend with a Sunday morning matchup against Fordham at the Mason Tennis Courts. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m.
