NEWARK, N.J. — The Patriots were defeated by the NJIT Highlanders by a score of 3-0 on Tuesday night.
This was Mason's first game outside the RAC this season against a hostile environment.
In the first, the Patriots took an early lead at 2-1, but after a three-point run by the Highlanders they were unable to retake the lead the rest of the set (20-25).
Jack Bolz tallied five kills and
Omar Hoyos had four.
The Patriots were unable to get anything going in the second. They dropped the first six points in the second and then were down 9-1. A three-point run put them within five points, but they couldn't inch closer as it ended 12-25.
The third started like the second with the Patriots trailing 3-9. Mason refused to give and tied it at 19 after a 6-0 run.
Eamonn Testerman smashed an ace and
Chey Cooper had 2 kills during that span. The Highlanders pulled away at the end 25-22.
Unfortunately, it was not the Patriots night. Too many errors proved costly in their 4th conference game.
