NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Graduate student pitcher Aly Rayle was named A-10 Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
This is the second time Rayle was named as the conference's best pitcher of the week. The first time she was awarded Pitcher of the Week was back on February 28th.

Aly Rayle's first start of the week was Game 1 of the Coppin State doubleheader on Wednesday, March 15. She tossed four hitless innings, allowed one walk and struck out seven batters.
In her second start, where she faced off against Loyola Chicago in Game 1 of the weekend series, Rayle pitched five innings, struck out eight batters and only allowed one run, which was unearned.
Lastly, for her third start, in Game 3 of the Loyola series, the Herndon, Va., native tossed a 130-pitch, six strikeout complete game and allowed only one earned run in the first inning.
The starting pitcher now has a 5-3 record with a 2.56 ERA. She leads Mason's pitching staff with 71 strikeouts on the season.

Rayle and the Patriots (15-8, 2-1) will head down to Harrisonburg, Va., to take on the Dukes of James Madison in a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday, March 22. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
