FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason track and field teams will kick-off their outdoor season this weekend at the Fred Hardy Invitational, in Richmond Va., and the Black and Gold Invitational in Orlando Fla.

The field events are expected to start at 9:30 A.M. and the track events are to begin at 11:30.
Fred Hardy coached the Spiders' cross country and track and field teams for 35 years (1950-1985). He was known to be a great teacher and coached numerous All-Americans including some Olympians. He was named to the University of Richmond Hall of Fame and passed away in 2005 at the age of 89.

The field events should start at 11 A.M. on Friday morning and the running events at 6 P.M. Action kicks-off on Saturday at 10 P.M.
A majority of Mason's sprinters and jumpers will perform at this meet.
Season Outlook
The Patriots will compete in seven regular season meets, hosting the Dalton Ebanks Invitational on Apr. 8th. Their postseason schedule consists of the A-10 Outdoor Championships (May 6-7th), the IC4A/ECAC Championships (May 12-14th) and the NCAA Championship Preliminary Round beginning May 24th.
Last Time Out
The Patriots finished up the indoor season collecting 19 medals (six gold) at the A-10 Indoor Championships.
Freshman
Micah Jones sprinted to the finish line to take the gold in the 60m (6.84) and was named the Male Most Outstanding Rookie Performer of the tournament.
Juniors
Daniel Adu,
Isaiah Carter, Edward Deskins and
Jarett Flaker won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:19.47.
Hannah Roberson and
Colton Ocetnik took gold medals in pole vault with heights of 3.77m and 4.86m.
Cason Gardner brought home the gold in the men's heptathlon with 5,340 points and
Jarett Flaker won the 400m with a time of 48.62
